This past Saturday, I watched my son face one of the toughest games of his high school basketball season. Not just because of the opponent, but because of the forces working against his team.

Here in Nevada, private schools face an uphill battle. We’re automatically labeled as “recruiting schools” without any unbiased review. Our school with 150 students? We play public schools with 300-500 students. We’re used to that disadvantage—we work with it. But this year, the referee bias has been egregious. The calls were so one-sided that we submitted game footage to the NIAA, though they consistently favor public schools over private ones.

But here’s what made me incredibly proud: my son’s leadership in the face of it all.

As team captain, he didn’t complain. He didn’t dwell on the unfair calls or let negativity seep in. Instead, he cheered his teammates on, encouraged them, and pushed them to stay positive. When the final buzzer sounded, he kept his head high, congratulated the winning team, and walked off that court with grace.

His coach did the same—squashing any negative talk, focusing the team on what they could control, and modeling the exact behavior he wanted to see.

This is Authentistic Leadership—the kind we explore in Charting True North. And here’s the clarity it provides:

When You Can’t Control Circumstances, You Can Control Your Response

That response creates confidence in your team, momentum in your culture, and ultimately, measurable results in your business.

Here’s your framework for leading when forces work against you:

1. Stay Positive – Your attitude sets the tone. When external forces push back, your mindset becomes your competitive advantage. This isn’t toxic positivity—it’s strategic clarity.

2. Move Your Thoughts On (No Dwelling) – Acknowledge the challenge, then shift focus to what’s next. Every minute spent ruminating is a minute stolen from building momentum.

3. Look for Solutions – Ask yourself: What can we control? What can we improve? What can we learn? Solution-focused thinking cuts through noise and creates actionable paths forward.

4. Remember Your Mission and Your Why – When external circumstances shake you, your core purpose steadies you. This is your North Star when everything else feels like chaos.

Anders Boulanger: Mastering Authentic Engagement

Anders, a magician turned engagement expert who worked with Microsoft and Fortnite, delivers a critical message: Nothing replaces authentic human interaction—and businesses that forget this are heading toward what he calls a “sales apocalypse.”

The CEO Method: Connect, Engage, Offer – Anders breaks down his framework for building meaningful client relationships that actually last. This isn’t about tricks or manipulation. It’s about rehumanizing business in a tech-saturated world.

Key insight: Most salespeople can send automated emails all day, but put them in front of a real human? They freeze. The engagement gap is real—and it’s costing businesses real money and real relationships.

Mariana Henninger: Brand Storytelling That Accelerates Trust

Emmy award-winning brand strategist Mariana Henninger makes one thing crystal clear: Branding is no longer optional for leaders who aspire to unstoppable growth.

Mariana reveals how effective brand storytelling accelerates trust and drives sales, especially through video. She shares the four trust triggers that position you as the undeniable go-to expert in your niche—not through hype, but through genuine connection.

This isn’t another networking event full of elevator pitches and awkward small talk. Your network is your net worth—but only when built on genuine connection and intentional action.

Early details coming next week. If you’re ready to master relationship capital as a core business strategy (not a side activity), stay tuned.

The Question That Matters

Are you letting negativity and biases hinder you, your company, and your team?

Or are you choosing clarity over chaos, solutions over complaints, and grace over grudges?

Your response to adversity reveals your leadership far more than your response to success.

Lead with grace. Lead with strength. Choose clarity this week.

To your unstoppable success,

Jaclyn
